Princeton Women's Soccer Falls to Harvard in Ivy League Semifinals

The Princeton University women's soccer team (9-5-3, 4-2-1 Ivy League) fell short of the Ivy League Championship with a 4-2 loss to Harvard (12-3-2, 5-1-1 Ivy League!) in the Ivy League Semifinals on Friday.

It was a back-and-forth game, with the Tigers taking the lead twice, but Harvard tied the game twice. Princeton ended up trailing 2-4 in the second half and was unable to equalize.

Despite the loss, the Tigers have a lot to be proud of this season. They finished the regular season with a record of 9-5-3 and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament. This weekend, they will host the University of Michigan in the first round of the tournament.

Princeton had two players named to the team of the year: senior forward Lexi Hirtunen and senior midfielder Aria Nagai. For her stellar season, Nagai was named to the Ivy League First Team along with sophomore midfielder Pietra Todin and senior defender Madison Curry. Sophomore forward Drew Koumans was named to the Ivy League Second Team, junior midfielder Lily Bryant received honorable mention and senior forward Jen Estes was recognized by the Ivy League for her academic and athletic excellence.

The Tigers are looking to recover from a loss to Harvard and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They have the talent and experience to make a deep run, and they are eager to prove they are one of the best teams in the country.
